Setting up a new OpenStreetMap Account to use with Mapzen POI Collector

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a new OpenStreetMap account for use with Mapzen POI Collector. If you already have an OpenStreetMap account and you want to find out how to set up Mapzen POI Collector, take a look at our first tutorial

1. Step 1

   Launch Mapzen POI Collector from your iPhone

   

2. Step 2

   When the Mapzen launch screen loads, choose "register at OpenStreetMap.org"

   

3. Step 3

   Mapzen POI Collector will now take you to the OpenStreetMap account creation page. Create a new OpenStreetMap account, by entering your Email address, choosing an OpenStreetMap display name and choosing a password. Click sign-up to move to the next stage.

   

4. Step 4

   Check your email account for a confirmation email from "webmaster@openstreetmap.org". Open the mail and click on the account confirmation link that looks similar to this:
   http://openstreetmap.org/user/confirm?confirm_string=heOzxVqo9oW1qGmL0k7d3yeaPqkQib

   If you don't have your email account setup on your iPhone, you can check your mail using your usual mail program.

   You will not be able to login to your OpenStreetMap account and use Mapzen POI Collector until you have confirmed your account by checking your email and clicking on the confirmation link.

   

5. Step 5

   After confirming your new account, return to Mapzen POI Collector, enter your email address and password into the login page and hit "Log In".

   

6. Step 6

   You will now be taken to authorization page where you will be asked to authorize Mapzen POI Collector against your OpenStreetMap account.

   If you are not taken to the authorization page, shown here, you need to close Mapzen POI Collector, re-launch the application and start from Step 5

   

7. Step 6

   That's it. You're now ready to start mapping with Mapzen POI Collector.
