How do you monitor use of your services?
To use any of CloudMade’s services you’ll need an API key. An API is a unique identifier for a particular application. API keys are free and it takes only a few seconds to issue an API key for your application. From the 1st December 2009, mobile applications will be required to authenticate each user of the device to allow unique user based billing. You can get an API key or read more about API keys.
What mobile platforms does CloudMade support?
CloudMade supports a variety of mobile platforms including iPhone, Android, Blackberry, J2ME, and Symbian. Some of our libraries are provided by our partners and may carry an additional cost for commercial deployment. Libraries in this category include:

Other libraries including CloudMade’s iPhone library are free for commercial use.
Are there any limits on the number of map tiles an application can request?
To help maintain good service levels for all CloudMade users, mobile applications are restricted from downloading map tiles to fill a local cache in advance of intended display and may not download on average more than 500 map tiles per unique user per month. In addition, all usage is covered by our website terms and conditions that have specific requirements for users of our services. If you require a higher limit, please get in touch with us.
Are there any limits on the number of geocoding or reverse geocoding requests an application using the Standard Mobile package can make?
An application using CloudMade’s Standard Mobile package may make up to 50,000 geocodes and 50,000 reverse geocodes per month. If you require a higher limit, please get in touch with us.
Are there any limits on the number of geocoding, reverse geocoding or local search requests an application using the Premier Package can make?
An application using CloudMade’s Premier Mobile package may make up to 50,000 geocodes and 50,000 reverse geocodes and 50,000 local searches and 50,000 route requests per month. If you require a higher limit, please get in touch with us.
Are there any limits to access to other services, like the Style Editor or Location Management?
CloudMade tools and services like the Style Editor or Location Management are free for use by all CloudMade developers, subject to our general website terms and conditions.
Can I purchase only geocoding, reverse geocoding, local search as separate products?
Location Based Advertising says “coming soon”. When will it be released and how will it work?
Our first Location Based Advertising (LBA) services are already being used by a handful of Alpha development partners. If you’d like to become an Alpha development partner, get in touch. When the service is released in full it will allow developers to make money from adding CloudMade maps to their applications, by placing targeted, relevant ads onto or near a map and giving developers a share of all proceeds generated from clicks and displays. LBA will be available to developers subscribed to both the Standard and Premier plans. Premier subscribers will have the option to remove advertising, should they choose to.
